Project Information

The project consists of the replacement of the Noland Road Bridge at I-70 in Independence. A new Bridge and access ramps will be constructed in the same location to replace the existing bridge, which has deteriorated over 40 years of continuous use. Built in 1965, the existing bridge carries about 28,000 vehicles per day.

The new bridge and access ramps will be designed to accommodate projected increases in traffic flow in future years.

Closure Information

The Noland Road bridge will be closed for approximately three months during the spring of 2008. The entire project is expected to take six months and will cost an estimated $9.5 million. Work is scheduled to begin in early 2008. The Noland Road Bridge is scheduled to reopen by Memorial Day weekend in May 2008.

During construction, the Noland Road ramps to and from I-70 will remain open.

    This means that:
  • Eastbound I-70 traffic can exit to southbound Noland Road
  • Westbound I-70 traffic can exit to northbound Noland Road
  • Southbound Noland Road traffic can enter westbound I-70
  • Northbound Noland Road traffic can enter eastbound I-70

The nearest I-70 exits are at Lee's Summit Road and Route 40/Blue Ridge Boulevard.
